Medicine A100 BSc (6 years)

Requirements:

a)IELTS:

IELTS: 7.0, not less than 7.0

b) GCE A-Levels

•Standard entry grades AAA

•Minimum entry grades AAB

Must include Chemistry and(Biology or Mathematics or Physics),plus GCSE(5)in(Biology,Mathematics and English)if not passed at AS or A-Levels.

c)IB:38points

38 points (HL 6,6,6 plus SL 6,6,6)

These grades must include HL in Chemistry and one of Biology, Mathematics or Physics. If not passed at HL, applicants must have SL in Biology, Mathematics and English.

Either Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation are accepted as meeting the Mathematics requirement. Standard Level Mathematics Studies is not acceptable. Mathematics at GCSE grade B or better might be considered in lieu of Standard Level.

d) UCAT:

All candidates applying to Medicine at St Andrews, including international students, are required to sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test.

圣安德鲁斯大学医学课程结构

Course Structure:

The St Andrews medical degree programme is six years long. Students graduate from St Andrews after 3 years with a BSc (Hons) Medicine then progress to to a partner clinical school to gain the MB ChB, the primary medical qualification. Partner schools currently include all other Scottish Universities, the University of Manchester, and Barts & The London. In summary, the course focuses on providing students with the scientific knowledge required to excel in the later years of clinical medicine. Anatomy, for instance, is something which the department really excels at. We are one of the few remaining universities that still offer full body dissection.

Teaching format

Modules are taught through a combination of:

lectures

laboratory-based practicals

small group tutorials

clinical attachments

audio-visual capture system for training and feedback on clinical skills

computer-based resources

research projects.

In third year, students participate in a ward simulation exercise in the School of Medicine’s clinical skills suite. As an interprofessional learning activity, this provides students with the opportunity to explore the skills required to work as part of a team and to develop their understanding of some of the roles and responsibilities of the healthcare team within a hospital ward environment.
